This program will be based out of Gansbaai and an area close to Still Bay on the Cape South Coast. We will stay at our lodge in Kleinbaai and we will stay in a B&B at Veldhoek near Still Bay. The program will commence in Gansbaai where we will do three days of white shark diving and viewing. We will then travel approximately 200 kilometres down the South coast to Veldhoek where we will spend four days tagging and scuba diving with sharks. Sharks common to this area are coppers, hammerheads, threshers, spotted gulleys, smoothounds, Soupfin sharks, hammerheads and great whites. Veldhoek is so small and out of the way that you need not bother looking on a map as you will not find it. |
At Feldhoek, we will stay at the rustic B&B in a tiny town completely forgotten by the rest of the world. Most South Africans have never even heard of this unspoilt and wild place. Here, we will launch our boat out of a river and head out to sea where the marine life is still teeming and waiting to be explored. Not only will you be able to assist in tagging the many species of shark here, you will also be able to dive with them. While tagging the sharks, you will be taught how to set up your equipment to catch the sharks, how to catch them, how to handle them at the boat in a safe manner and how to tag them. This is extremely exciting work and it is all about team spirit. In the evenings, we can sit and talk about the adventures of the day under a dark sky, unpolluted by the lights of civilisation. |
